19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - caused him falling of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former trainer his previous coach.

Currently training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This marks his initial trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from that period of the previous year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his previous six finals, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive approach and frequent emotional displays on court had led observers to question if his ability to play at the top level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

Both players swapped breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to push for a third set.

He rescued four early break points in a tight third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he earned the title with a shot at the net area, with his opponent failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
